Death is viewed by most people as a negative thing. Of course I agree that death is negative in most cases. After all, losing a loved one is never a good thing, people dying around the world from starvation and oppression is never a good thing. However, remembering daily that life is short and that the clock is ticking at all times is a good think. Why, because you will not have the illusion that there is always tomorrow to get things done. Thinking of death often gives you a sense of urgency that you need to do the things in life that you want to do now. You need to tell the people the things that you want to tell them now. You need to help the people that you want to help today. Someday it will be too late.
Now being consumed with death is not what I am getting at. Some people are so consumed by death that they are paralyzed from taking any action and fail to live an active and enjoyable life. Regardless, the thought of death can be one of the greatest motivators of all time if you think of it in the right context. If you lived forever, there would be no incentive to achieve any thing, as you will always have tomorrow. Your life would end up being a big procrastination. However, due to the fact that we do not have unlimited time, we have a major incentive to act today. Put into this context remembering death is a positive thing so use it as a motivator to make 2005 your best year ever.

Three Fat Loss Tips For 2005
1. Instead of doing split routines, do three full body weight training workouts per week. Focus on compound exercises such as: squats, deadlifts, barbell rows, dips, chin-ups, overhead presses, and clean and push presses. These exercises release more growth hormone and build more muscle.
2. Forget about low intensity aerobics and try 2-3 high intensity aerobic sessions per week. Two examples that will work well are my HOC programs (see my HOC articles at http://www.mikemahler.com/articles.html) or try the Tabata Protocol for fifteen minutes. Here is how it works, do 20 seconds of all out work followed by 10 seconds of moderate work. One example is sprinting on a treadmill for 20 seconds followed by 10 seconds of jogging. Go back and forth for a total of fifteen minutes.
3. Forget about fad diets and focus on eating as much real food as possible. Get all of your carbs from fruits, veggies, and healthy grains and cut out overly processed foods. Make sure that you have an adequate supply of healthy fats in your diet such as flaxseed oil and olive oil, and get a good supply of high quality protein in every meal. Make sure to drink 12 cups of water per day and have 2 cups of green tea as well.
