1. AGGRESSIVE STRENGTH QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"I have never met a truly strong person who didn't have self-respect. I think a lot of inwardly and outwardly directed contempt passes itself off as self-respect: the idea of raising yourself by stepping on someone's shoulders instead of doing it yourself. When I see guys working out for cosmetic reasons, I see vanity exposing them in the worst way, as cartoon characters, billboards for imbalance and insecurity. Strength reveals itself through character. It is the difference between bouncers who get off strong-arming people and Mr.Pepperman."
- Henry Rollins
People that are strong physically who use it as a means to oppress others are not strong at all. They have deep rooted insecurities that manifest themselves every time they try to oppress others. That goes for people that are strong mentally as well and enjoy manipulating others as a way to control and oppress them. The temporary rush that they get from oppressing others is fleeting and an illusion. The real slaves are not the oppressed but the oppressors. They are slaves to their own self hatred that is demonstrated every time they have to put others down to feel good about themselves.
Real strength comes from using your different facets of strength for the good of yourself and others. When you are strong physically you can help others. Even if it is something as simple as helping someone place a heavy bag overhead on a plane or more dramatically pulling someone out of wrecked car. When you build up physical and mental strength and have a strong moral philosophy to go with it, you become a very strong individual that is a valued member of society. We all have duty to ourselves and society to be as fit as possible mentally and physically.
I do not think that life can be enjoyed to the fullest degree with out a higher level of comprehensive strength. The more real strength you build, the more secure you will be and the more secure you are, the more likely you are to live the life that you have always dreamed. This is the concept of Aggressive Strength and why I end each newsletter with the phrase "Live Life Aggressively." When you acquire real strength, forms of weaknesses such as cynicism, back biting, and complaining will wither away. In their place will be positive action, empowerment, and bliss. Let the training begin!

2. AGGRESSIVE STRENGTH TRAINING ARTICLE
Compound Solution For Busy Trainees
After reading a great article by Dan John on one exercise training, I though of some great killer strength/muscular endurance workouts that focus on compound kettlebell exercises. Here are the exercises that you will be choosing from if you dare: Clean and Squat Press, Full Body Attack, and Renegade Man Maker. Lets go through each exercise:
Clean And Squat Press: Clean two kettlebells to the rack. Squat all the way down, pause for a second and stand up quickly. The second your legs lockout, press the kettlebells overhead. Lower the bells back to the rack and then take them back to the floor. You just completed one rep.
Advanced Full Body Attack: Place two kettlebells a few inches apart and assume the top position of a pushup on top of the bells. Jump forward so that the bells are behind your legs and you are now in the bottom position of a clean. Make sure that you back is arched and that you are looking forward before. Once you are set up, clean the bells to the rack. Squat down a few inches and then push press the kettlebells overhead. Lower the bells back to the rack and then back to the floor. Once the bells are back on the floor, return to the top position of a pushup. You have just completed one rep.
Advanced Renegade Man Maker: Same starting position of the Full Body Attack. Push one kettlebell info the floor and pull the other one to your waste. Repeat with other arm. Now jump forward into the bottom position of the clean. Make sure that you back is arched and that you are looking forward before. Once you are set up, clean the bells to the rack. Now do a full front squat and when your stand back up do an alternating press. Lower the bells back to the rack and then back to the floor. Once the bells are back on the floor, return to the top position of a pushup. You have just completed one rep.
Now here is the program that you are going to do for one month.
Monday: Clean and Squat Press. Do as many sets of five as you can in a thirty minute time frame.
Wednesday: Fully Body Attack: Do as many sets of five as you can in a twenty minute time frame.
Friday: Advanced Renegade Man Maker: Do as many sets of five as you can in a fifteen minute time frame.
Getting as much work done as possible in a designated time frame is a concept that I picked up from Charles Staley's EDT program. Make sure you check out his site at EDTSecrets.com. Each week rotate the time frames. For example, in week two, Clean and Squat Press in a fifteen minute time frame, do the the Fully Body Attack in a thirty minute time frame, and the Advanced Renegade Man Maker in the Twenty minute time frame. This way every exercise has its day in the spotlight and its day on the back burner. This program is not for beginners as the listed exercises are very advanced. Proceed with caution and do not bite off more than you can chew.
