Who I Respect in the Industry

I often get this question asked at seminars. Who do you respect in the industry? Mike Mahler is certainly of the most decent beings and leaders in the fitness industry.
Our brains, for survival purposes are trained to distinguish differences, therefore my most hard core fans would say ‘Why are you promoting a vegan kettlebell user”? Why? Because those differences are not on absolute scale but rat elative level, and are insignificant in the realm of things, as Mike and I have learned many of the same things that work.
Vegan. So what? I think for us carnivores, being a vegan about 4-5 days a month is actually a great health practice. I don’t have peer reviewed research to quote, yet, I find it great to build long term joint health, and to make you….absorb animal protein better. You can be vegan one day a week, or 5 days in a row. The latter being what works best for me. Don’t freak out, your muscle mass won’t plummet, if anything, it will go up. I sincerely think that the hunter was unsuccessful every day, like no one bats 100%.
Kettlebell user? He likes does them, I am not so keen of them. So what? At least, it is a form of external resistance. You can build an impressive upper body just using a set of rings too! And I can tell you something else, whatever he recommends for loading parameters works. I have never seen say anything downright foolish in terms of sets and reps. What he recommends works. That is what is important. Mike, like yours truly, is interested in what works. For example, he likes the Doug Hepburn, so do I. Hard work, extremely rewarding. Mike is also a humanist, a quality I admire greatly, for example, he has helped raised funds for many worthy causes, such as providing help for the aftermath of the hurricane Katrina.
Mike practices what he preaches, I love that. If you met most of the guys who write on the Net or for fitness magazines, you would downright vomit. Not with Mike.
Mike loves to help, and he does it from the bottom of his heart, that is what makes him a great leader. Zero ego, all heart. Great job Mike.
